    Dear Supporters of Pro Sayulita,
We have some exciting news to pass on regarding changes that have been occurring over the summer in Sayulita, thanks to your donations and help during the winter season.
    1. Our garbage truck is doing a great job of picking up street trash and maintaining Sayulimpia trash cans throughout Sayulita. The truck is also picking up trash on Gringo Hill, Nanzal, Niño’s Heroes, and out at Patzcuaro. ( There is a posted schedule on our website )
    2. Using some of the funds collected for the construction of the WWTP, we have purchased three additional aerators needed for the operation
of the WWTP. As a result, Sayulita now has the cleanest effluent in the Municipality. The water flowing out of our WWTP exceeds government standards assuring that any water being emptied into our bay is safe for swimmers and surfers.
    3. Thanks to a generous donation from Walter Staudinger, we purchased a water truck that is being used to wash down the cobble-stone roads, water the dirt roads to keep down the dust, and water plants in public areas.
    4. With additional funds from the WWTP project, we are installing the main pipeline to handle the effluent from all the homes that feed into
the creek that runs down Calle Revolucion and Calle Niño’s Heroes and empties into the bay next to Don Pedros. These homes will then hook up to the WWTP system, thus eliminating one of the
last sources of water pollution to our bay.

As Sayulita grows, so do the needs of the village. Given that none of Mexico’s small towns have their own government, they rely on the Municipality to provide funds for local improvements. These improvements require a minimum of 20% local participation that must be paid by us. So that everyone is clear about how Mexico’s system of funding works and why we need to raise funds for those projects we think are important, a simple description of the system follows.

Mexico has a municipal system of government. This means that the most immediate level of government is at what in the U.S. you would call a county level government. Small towns do not have local governments but are governed by a central municipal government. In the case of Sayulita, the Municipality is Bahia de Banderas and the municipal seat is in Valle de Banderas about 13 kilometers inland from Mezcales. Sayulita is one of 23 towns in the municipality and municipal leaders are generally from other towns. These people do not live in Sayulita so they don’t often have a good idea of Sayulita’s needs and priorities. In the past, Sayulita has been largely ignored when the Municipal government has done infrastructure projects. In part, this was because there was no organized group focused on fulfilling Sayulita’s needs. The Municipal government invested in towns that were more organized. Now that Grupo Pro Sayulita, A.C. is in operation, we have the needed leverage to make things happen on the municipal level and above.

Firestone, Colorado, USA has adopted Sayulita Mexico as our Sister City. We sent school supplies to your Town in 2005 along with Colorado Inspection Agencies sponsorship support. I am interesting in finding a representative to work with in Sayulita, as we are getting this program up and going again, and I would also like to invite a representative from your Town to our Centennial, or 100 year celebration on July 4, 2008. Please advise me as to who may be the appropriate contact. Thank you for your assistance.

I am an elementary school administrator in Katy, Texas USA and will be visiting Sayulita the last week in February 2008. I would like to visit the schools in Sayulita to get firsthand knowledge of the school system in Mexico. My campus is bilingual (although I am not), and we often have children coming to our school directly from small villages in Mexico. I would appreciate any information I might get about the schools, the way of life of local Mexican children/families, and arranging to visit the schools. The Tuesday of the last week in February is the day I would have available for the visits.

      Thank you so much,
      Karen Raymond

There is, however, a lot of drinking. Rodeos are different here--involves great music, but be aware that beer is the drink of choice.

Hello if you are interetested in living in PV and maybe buying a Timeshare. I would be happy to sign you up for an presentation where you would be paid $100.00 to go to a 90 minute presentation. They will talk to you about buying a Time Share however you are not obligated in anyway to do so. I have one that I can send you to that pays 100 dollars and another one that pays $50.00 for 90 minutes of your time, meaning that you can make $150.00 for 1 and 1 half hours of your time (each is 90 minutes).

They will take you to a beautiful 5 star resort. Feed you breakfast, or lunch depending on the time you get there. Show you all over the resort, You will make $100 dollars. Please let us know where you read the ad at. We will get you a cab to and from the location. If you are interested please email me at warerobert46@yahoo.com

If you love to visit PV or you are already here and want to make a few dollars, plus maybe find a 5 star time share to stay in while you are here, this is a great way to do so.

    Thank You

My husband and I are visiting Sayulita in April. I wanted to rent four-wheelers while we're there for his birthday but can't find any businesses online that rent them. I tried one company - Rentas El Dorado, but they're out of business. Can anyone recommend another place?

Right across from the playing field is an office for the Zip lines and horse back riding trips, Verdin is the local owner and they rent 4 wheelers!" Rancho Mi Chaparita." They may have a web site, no se, but you can definitely rent once you get here. There's several bank machines in town now for your convenience. Have a great Birthday! Mines' this month as well!

Odette, so are you saying there actually are ATM machines in Sayulita? because I have read the opposite at the shopping section in this website. Also, can one pay with credit/debit card at restaurants/bars ?

I recently visited Sayulita and on my return was discussing the elementary school located close to where I stayed with my daughter who is an elementary school teacher. Who should we talk with about sending school supplies for the kids at the elementary school? You can reply to me at wsalmon@indy.rr.com.
